Classes are over
I just came back from my last class of the quarter. Monday I had a final presentation for Innovation and Human Values in Design. Last Tuesday I handed my last Art 60 project in. And next friday my Manufacturing and Design project is due. That is proving to be troublesome for me.

I have this thing that I've been trying to work on throughout this quarter, which is that I like to say things are done. I like to check them off on a list, and feel like I've accomplished things. However, this means that I sometimes (ok, a lot) say that they're done before they're done done. It's that little bit of extra effort to finish things well that I have so much trouble doing. Doesn't it count that you can see what I mean for it to be? The concept is there. Yeah, no. I want to be more proud of my finished products.

So this weekend I tourched up some art 60 projects based on feedback from Matt. I still have 2 more projects I'd like to work on. And then there is my candlestick holder. Last night I polished and buffed it up through rouge. It was gleaming. But if you looked closely, the surface finish just wasn't as great as it should be. So I brought it back down to 220 grit sandpaper. Sigh. I think I'm doing the right thing, but I want to be FINISHED finishing.
my car key
Broke. On Monday I went to the Trader Joe's in Menlo Park to do a little food shopping. Went out to my car, put the key in my trunk, and turned. Ok, so the key wasn't entirely in the keyhole. But I wasn't turning any harder than normal. And the key bent! I pulled it out, and tried to bend it back. No go. So, I got into my car (I leave it unlocked. I mean, it's a convertible. If they want to get in, they can get in.) and tried it in another keyhole, to see if I could turn it back like that. Nope. Took it out, and the top part just fell off.

Car keys should not be made of a material so malleable.

Thank god I had my cell phone on me. I called Nicole, who lives mere blocks away, and she was at home. So I walked over there with my groceries (it seems like ages since I've had to walk carrying groceries), and she gave me a ride home. Later my roommate drove me back with my spare key so I could get my car. My spare key is no longer spare, but at least there isn't a half a key stuck in some part of my car, right?
